Deepening Experiential Work in EFT: A Practical Introduction to Felt Sense

Workshop Overview

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT) share a deep commitment to transformation through corrective emotional experiences that strengthen secure connection with ourselves and others. Both approaches recognise that lasting therapeutic change occurs when clients are able to turn toward their embodied emotional experience with curiosity, acceptance and compassion, rather than becoming overwhelmed by it or disconnected from it.

Focusing offers therapists a practical, evidence-informed process for helping clients access their body’s implicit knowing—the felt sense. Rather than working solely from thoughts or emotions that are already known, Focusing gently guides clients toward the deeper, often unspoken experience that carries fresh meaning, core emotions, unmet needs and new possibilities for change.

For Emotionally Focused Therapists, integrating Focusing can deepen experiential work by helping clients safely access primary emotions, strengthen their relationship with their internal experience, and create meaningful emotional shifts that can be felt, understood and integrated.

This highly experiential workshop combines teaching, live demonstration and guided practice, giving participants the opportunity to experience the Focusing process personally while exploring practical ways to integrate these skills into EFT sessions.

Whether you are new to Focusing or looking to deepen your experiential work within EFT, this workshop offers practical tools that can immediately enrich your therapeutic practice.
